CHEN HAN
Shenyang, China b.1973
Chen Han, born in 1973 in Shenyang, China, and graduating from Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts in 2005, now works and lives between Shenyang and Beijing.
Like a dedicated archeologist of the soul, Chen Han captures the subtle emotional relationships between figures with a unique perspective, consistently excavating those delicate yet profound emotional fossils through his artistic creation. His work spans two dimensions: in his music-themed works, he portrays pure spiritual resonance with harmonious brushstrokes, capturing the dancing of fingertips and the meeting of gazes; in his paintings of interpersonal relationships, he reveals the emotional tensions hidden beneath the surface with restrained technique, exploring the ineffable subtleties in contemporary human connections.
His aesthetic inheritance from Lu Xun Academy, combined with his keen grasp of color and space, enables his works to harbor deep psychological undercurrents beneath their calm surface. Chen Han rarely depicts solitary figures, focusing instead on the interactions between groups of two or three. Through meticulously arranged spatial relationships and nuanced gestures, he conveys an ambiguous tension that reflects the universal yet hidden predicaments in contemporary social relationships. His works have been exhibited at important institutions including Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts Museum, Long Museum, and Dongyu Museum of Fine Arts, and are permanently collected by institutions such as the Museum of Old and New Art Tasmania, DSL Collection, Modern Media Group, and JNBY Group, earning wide recognition in the international art world.
